"Angie Lewin studied BA (Hons) Fine Art Printmaking at Central St. Martins College of Art and Design (1983–1986), and postgraduate printmaking at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts. After working in London as an illustrator Lewin studied horticulture and a move to Norfolk prompted a return to printmaking.
Inspired by both the cliff tops and salt marshes of the North Norfolk coast and the Scottish Highlands, Lewin’s work depicts these contrasting environments and their native flora in wood engraving, linocut, silkscreen, lithograph, watercolour and collage.
The exhibition in YSP Centre will feature Lewin’s paintings and prints, including an exclusive, limited edition, five-colour screen print hand-pulled at Jealous Print studio in London.
Exclusive merchandise, including Creamware mugs, a canvas bag, tea towel and wool scarf, will be available to buy, as will be Meadow’s Edge, Lewin’s new screen-printed fabric for St. Jude’s. A series of associated events, including a talk and tour on 8 June 2014 with Angie Lewin and garden designer and writer, Noel Kingsbury, accompanies the exhibition.
Lewin’s work is featured in many public and private collections in the UK and abroad, including The London Institute, Aberystwyth University, Ashmolean Museum and The Victoria & Albert Museum. She has illustrated books for Faber and Faber, Penguin and Merrell, designed fabrics for Liberty’s of London and designs fabrics for St. Jude’s, which she founded and runs with husband Simon".
